84 aspencade--air shocks to regular shocks

One of my rear air shocks is leaking and i was thinking of just changeing them over to a nice set of chrome spring shocks--do you recommend this--will ride still be good? what length shock do you recommend? will old line to air shocks need to be capped off? **==

its easy to just replace the seals and add new oil to shocks
numerous people have gone the regular shock changeover but most have not been satisfied with the results obtained, for one thing with the saddlebags its not an easy task to change shock settings when riding two up

Rebuild them if cash is an issue. I don't think you'll find a set of shocks with heavy enough springs to hold up the Wing. Save up for a set of Progressive Suspension rear shocks. They will make a HUGE difference in ride and handling.

i put the progressive hd ( 412 i think ) shocks on my 1200 aspy a few years ago cause i was too chicken at the time to r&r the compressor.. i have no real issue with the shocks but i don't ride two up either but i feel the air shocks had better ride overall and are more adjustable

I put a new set of heavy duty Progressive shocks on the rear and new springs up front on our 1980 GL1100 standard a few years ago. The ride and handling was better with 2 up but the dampers went out after a year. Now it's just bouncy with no dampening.

I put new Progressives on the back on my bike several years ago and they are still working fine. No bottoming out when riding 2 up along with great handling.
