Poorboy conversion and EC Harness GL1200 LTD
Hello all...
I have ordered the Poorboy kit from Don Pigott, and am also getting my alternator in a couple of days.
As I ponder the conversion...I'm looking forward to the task.
However, the EC harness concerns me...what to do with it after the fact.
I know I'll be taking the R/R off and the wiring associated with it...but, what do I do with
the red wire that feeds the relay, that feeds the coils...do I just leave that as is...or
do I put the wiring back as stock at the coils??
I would need help on doing that I think as my memory doesn't work too good these days.
Any advice that you are willing to share would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

since basically the only thing you really do other than installing the poorboy is disconnect the regulator you shouldn't have to remove anything else

Most of the EC harness will remain intact, only the wiring from the stator and rectifier gets pulled. The wiring to the coils will still remain on the EC harness.

I called EC about this because I installed the EC kit before installing the alt conversion. Unplug or cut the voltage regulator wires. Leave the relay so the coils are still being fed voltage direct from the battery.
