ST1300 Farkel Day
desertrefugee Wrote:Extreme heat? I don't want to talk about it. If I didn't ride when it's over 90, I'd have already missed a few days this year. My cut off is about 100. But even in Summer, the cool hills start about an hour north of town. Guess which direction I head?

And I have always admired the ST series. I am a V4 kinda guy. I love the valve covers peeking out.

When I had my original brand new 85 wing I rode to CA and back.. at one point it was way over 100 and yeh it was hot but didnt bother me much. Now, geez I just wilt.. must be getting too old.

So what are you thinkin' of olddude? Sport touring, full dress tour, cruiser, sport? Or just waiting for something interesting to come along that's priced just right?[/quote]

ALL the usual suspects.. ST1300 again., BMW R1200RT, Yamaha FJR, GL1800 Goldwing..
Have ridden them all..just not sure which one to get yet.. all are great bikes just different from each other in many ways

Was going to. I got all excited about a 2012 Pearl White GL1800. So I put up the ST to see what I can get out of it. I then rode that GL1800..... I'm not ready for one yet. Can't justify spending $26,000, then having to put another $3,000 for a Traxxion suspension set-up just to make it handle. The 18's handle like "sheet". I had the rear shock pumped up all the way and still dragged the pegs on an "easy sweeping" highway off-ramp! WAY under sprung. Front end get's vague and nervous when pushed. The cockpit is too cramped for me also. So there's more money in a seat and bar riser's. Soon as I got home, I pulled the add for the ST. :d

Yes .... Lot's of 1800 Winger's over there. The only thing I can think of is BUYER'S REMORSE !

Glad I pulled the plug when I did.....

Just my opinion, but I think that my full blown Progressive Suspended '85 LTD handled a touch better than a new 1800.... I've heard that others here feel the same way.

Hello all ! I ride an ltd that is "fixed" , Progressive ft spring new bushings and seals . The air pump holds the shocks lbs.for weeks.Head frame bearings are good. Swing arm good. My point is I ride my st1300 and hop on the old wing and you have to ride them different. The wing you make even pressure slow input moves and the bike runs a line great . The st is a animal Point and Shoot. I have toyed with getting the 1800 but not yet joe

If you think the ST is point and shoot.. you should try the bmw rt.. most natural easy handling bike I've ever been on.

I've said it before but I wish they would come out with a NEW 2013?? 4cyl,GL1200 goldwing fully updated. It could be awesome! :d

I would have to agree with your statement here.
my GF and I took an 1800 for a test ride at our local Honda demo days, we both concluded that Vanna handles better and has a lot more class and character then the new 1800s :d :d
