Do you know the amperage draw of the HID compared to the stock bulb? I'm not sure if there is a big difference between them. Just curious because you don't want to over tax the stater. I just know the older wings have a mediocre charging system. I've thought about doing the same thing to mine.

since i normally figure out amperage depending on the charging voltage (14.5v)
Stock H4 bulb(55/60W) 3.793 amps/4.137 amps hi beam Bio-xenon H4-3 (35W)bulb 2.413 amps light output for the 5000K bulb is probably 3X more visible light, whiter and more visible be aware that some of the xenon bulbs claiming whiter light are actually 90/100W bulbs, they are normally the ones you see coated blue

I've thought about doing the same thing to mine. here is an update, 4 1/2 hours from start to going for a ride with the new HID headlight, the brighter light is wonderful, there is no comparison from the old light to the new headlight, I believe it is as they claim at least 3 times brighter then the stock headlight. as for the actual draw difference I am not sure but my bike has a volt meter and I can tell you that with the old headlight my volt meter stayed at 14.1 to 14.2 and now with the HID headlight my volt meter stayed 14.4 to 14.5 that tells me that the HID headlight uses quite a bit less power then the stock light.. there are three options to choose from, (5000k, white) (6000k, tinge of blue) and (8000k blue light) for best visibility I bought the 5000k and it was the right choice I believe. :d :d

Thanks for the update. It's good to hear first hand experience with upgrades. I think I will see about doing the upgrade this summer. It sounds like the better deal for the older wings.

there is a problem with the above kit, mainly because if you dont order correctly you are gonna end up with a kit that will cost you at least $30 more and does not include the correct bulb and is only a one-bulb kit
its hard to reccommend a kit off ebay because there are so may suppliers out there, the kit i reccomended has been bought and used by two others recently the suppliers i bought from off ebay no longer list on ebay (3-4 yrs ago) i just priced out the same "kit" from the hidsrus site and w/o shipping the kit costs $167 for what i recommended off ebay for $80

For our application, 2 bikes, we are going with the one that Earl has listed, because we can cut the kit in 1/2, buy 1 more relay, and do both bikes for the price of 1 kit..
A lot of kits we have researched don't have the bi-xenon bulb available.

there's no need to be scared about tackling the HID install, its simple, worst thing is figuring how you are going to route the 12V fused power from the battery and how to shorten the relay cable if necessary since it is way longer than required since its designed for installation in a car

It helps a lot. Right now I have the rear of my bike apart for replacing a few red bulbs with LCDs and adding four "defensive," flashing, external brake lights (not as ugly as they sound ... but effective for getting the attention of cell phone texting, caged idiots behind me !). Still, cutting all those OEM wires :-SS for the HID headlight makes me nervous, but I'll go for it " ...
