The Dragon has NOTHING on Yarnell Hill Arizona !!!
I hadn't made this run in a few years and never on a Goldwing. I was surprised at how well the GL1200 handled this route.

Before I go further, those Easterners (and I am originally from North Carolina) who've ridden the fabled Dragon around Deal's Gap should know that the great West has some quite challenging runs as well. Don't believe me? Google "Yarnell Hill Motorcycle".

Here's one of the hits you'll find:

While there were a few wake-ups (metal making contact with tarmac) and one real nail-biter (didn't quite make one turn and drifted into the oncoming lane - luckily nothing coming), all-in-all I was very pleased with how the old 'wing performed. Very pleased. Had the little lady along - and I mean little. Five foot nothing and 110 if she's lucky. She rides well and I truly forgot she was back there at times.

What a ride. Highly recommended. And if folks travel for hundreds of miles or more to run the Dragon, I certainly don't see why the same wouldn't be true of Yarnell Hill. Actually, some of the best riding is further up Route 89 closer to Prescott. All the same road.

Had a blast and am loving this GL1200 more every day. (But, I gotta get the Vmax back up there soon).

And by the way forgot to mention thats a purrrrrrty wing I don't know why but i love the
looks of a wing the guy or people who designed it must have been a real visionary look
how many times it has been copied all or in part. Any way can't wait to meet you both.

I live in Prescott and do the Yarnell hill quite often. It's a twisty one. The run up to Prescott from Wilhoit is another good one as well as 89a from Prescott Valley to Jerome. All twisty roads that'll make you shout for joy!
