AE/AF/AG/AH and DE/DG
What do these different letters denote ? I'm having an argument with a supplier over a brake master cylinder kit. I've bought one for a DE or DG but my bikes an 85/86 Interstate and they wont fit. Why is everything so ******** complicated ?

although i have seen such mention before i have no idea what they relate to,i would think that they probably refer to different models, such as a european version,us and a japan version

maybe a dealer with some older employees in the parts dept may be able to help
