Starter Solenoid Bad
I push the start button on my 85 aspy and all it does is click, I replaced the dog bone fuse and still the same. the starter turns via hot wire direct. new oem part $62.00 plus found some used on ebay about the same maybe a little less, is there an alternative part from auto parts store or am I stuck with the over priced Honda part. Thanks for any help Ed |

Ed, you can buy new aftermarket solenoids for the 1200 on Ebay for about 20 bucks and they have the 30 amp plug in fuse. Just do a search and you will find quite a few.

You can possibly take it apart and clean the contacts, never done it myself but I think bluewing did it and also vic at one time.
Might get you out of a bind.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

I bought a new one on ebay for $11.50 delivered in 2 days. It was the same solenoid but had a modern fuse upgrade instead of the Dog bone fuse.

I've taken them apart before, the whole key is to get the two small wires unsoldered from the top before you remove the cap. These days it's just easier and maybe cheaper to get a new one with the upgraded fuse

If it's not broke, I can fix that! |
