Are they the same?
Other than the year and the name, is there any difference between a 1985 GL1200 Aspencade LTD and a 1986 GL1200 Aspencade SEi ? :?: :?: :?:

I have owned both bikes and can tell you that there are at least 10 differences but unless you saw the bikes side by side you would not be able to find them. I have also had both bikes together and most people still could not find any differences. And for the most part there is no functional difference between them. The only one that I have found that irrates me is that the handle bar radio scan will only go to the end of the dial on the LTD. You must then push the lever the other way to scan back. On the SE-i when it hits the end of the range it will start over at the other end. The other differences are minor and meaningless (for example the LTD battery cable to the starter goes below the battery and the SE-i goes above the battery and back down).

The chrome sections on the exhaust on the 86+ are bolted on, earlier they were welded
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

The 85 Limited/LTD is not an Aspencade. But the 86 Special Edition Injected/SEI is an Aspencade Just to set the record straight
