In my neighborhood some of the stereos that pass my house are louder than the motorcycles. This seems very discriminatory.

Just a heads up for travelling in Canada. Several Provincial legislatures are
looking at in acting new exhaust noise limits. The standard is set at 91 decibels.
Police will have an allowance basically set at 94 decibels so nobody can say
the police are not riding the fence line too close. Right now four cities have noise
by laws for any motor vehicle exhaust noise set or in effect and the Provinces
will use they're model to word the new Provincial laws.

Police will then have the power to (depending on how noisy based on
whether it's from someone actually removing baffles compared to an old set of pipes
getting worn out) to give the driver a Notice and order and time to fix the bike or to remove the offending noise maker via a tow truck and sieze the plates.

Let's face it folks. Loud pipes can only be heard by people behind you so the theory that
people hear you coming is unfounded. Emergency sirens are around 120 decibels and
the loudest bike set of pipes hit 115 decibels at most. Police sirens face forward. Pipes back.
Get the picture. Louder pipes also don't do nothing for fuel millage either.
Well enough said. Keep them stock and keep them rolling sunny side up.

California Senate Bill 435 which goes into effect Jan. 1 2013 basically states.......any motorcycle or after market exhaust system manufactured after that date will have to meet noise standards set by the state. All bikes and after-market exhaust systems will have a stamp or label affixed to the exhaust that states it meets the standard.
This will be law Jan 1 2013 in Ca.
