Does it have any advantage. No change in hp ore torqe, and its more complicated. Just got a ltd, not tryed it prop yet due to snow here in Norway, but wonders if its better than the carb models?

The LTD/SEI has two advantages over the carb models.
1) They're rare. Higher resale value. 2) Better fuel economy. The fuel injection system does a better job of metering the fuel. Some will say an advantage is that it doesn't have a choke, or isn't as cold blooded as the carb model. To those I say, "clean and sync your carbs, mine runs beautifully cold or warm". |

have both and i think that i prefer the carbs over the fi,the fi does have alot more electronics and sensors to go bad
but what is really nice about the ltd/sei is the travel computer, especially since it seems to have better radio reception, air shock pressure adjustments are easier too since the controls are on the left handlebar think your ltd is prettier than the sei but my sei came at the right price so that's what i bought if you need the ltd supplement for the ltd u can download it at http://www.goldwingdocs.com

Reliability and drivability are strong points of fuel injection when in good working order because the fuel is metered much more precisely to the engine's needs but a well tuned carb can quite often deliver more all out power. The GL1200's fuel injection system is quite dated and pales when compared to modern multi sensor equipped EFI systems which can finely tune the fuel mixture to optimum ratios for best fuel economy and performance. Most GL1200 LTD's and SEi's have proven to be very reliable machines with the biggest exception being the cold air idle valve that gets gummed up with engine carbon and causes idle problems. For the most part it can be simply cleaned and put back into reliable service.
