Radio tuning and the Electronic Trip Computer

Hi everyone,

I have an 85 Ltd. I am aware of the problem whereby if the Radio has a problem staying on station the answer is to solder a capacitor into the Electronic Trip Computer.

I've done this and now my radio will not tune into any stations at all.

Whilst I get that I may have fried the relevant circut in the Electronic Trip Computer - I can't for the life of me understand what the ETC has to do with radio station tuning.

My understanding is that the arial goes into the radio via the big blue connector and the radio itself has the tuning circutry - so how come the ETC can affect the ability of the radio to tune in?????

Perphaps I am being dense - my new puppy is keeping me awake nights

I also have no idea why/how the mod you're talking about works but it does! A couple of questions..

The capacitor/condensor is supposed to be soldered across pins #10 and #14.

Have you checked to make sure that there is no solder bridges to other pins in the area where you've soldered? The area where you've soldered is really tight and that can happen. If you find one use a solder sucker to remove the excess solder. Also, check the legs of the capacitor to make sure they're not touching any of the other pins.
