timing belt replacement

Hello group ! I have an ltd and it has 11k miles. Thats good but the belts are 25 yrs old . I plan to replace them. I have the fsm and have just done my accord and the wife's acura rl's belts last month . The wrench part should not be a problem. My question is how do I get fresh belts. The ones I will be removing will not be worn but age has me concerned. Where can I be sure to get fresh belts that have not been in a storage for 25 yrs. Do they have date stamps like tires? Also are there any other parts you would suggest replacing like the water pump etc. The bike runs great and I just want to get the pm things done while the weather is cold . Welcome aboard, Joe. Gates part no. 5043 or T070; NAPA part no. 250070; Goodyear part no. 40272. All of these should be available at any local auto parts suplier and should be fresh.

If there are no leaks from the weephole under the waterpump, my suggestion is to leave well enough alone.
Tires, valves... bend the valves sideways and look for cracking and deterioration. Lube caliper sliders with neverseize. change brake and clutch fluid. Remove rear wheel and lube the drive gear and spider pins with Moly lube.

Hi Joe and welcome to a fantastic site.
When I did my bike, I checked the water pump impeller for leakage and did not find anything. However, I did have about 1/16 inch of play in the impeller when I moved it upward and downward. This was deemed to be too much so I opened the front case. My engine was out of the frame for a paint job so things were much easier to get at. What I found was the with only 46K miles on it the engine wear was minimal but my seals were failing. The water pump was just starting to leak and there was oil/water in the "leakage chamber" but the weep hole had been plug my years of old grim. I also went through every system on the bike replacing old fluids with new. I replace the components in the clutch and brakes. Cleaned and greased the drive shaft splines and the rear wheel dampeners located in the rear hub. I went with synthetic oil in the final drive and engine case and this has been a good move. Make sure you check the connector for the three wires coming from the stator to regulator. If this has not been removed and the wires soldered together youâre looking at trouble guaranteed to come. With everything apart it was easy for me to open all electrical connectors and give the contacts a good cleaning. I then sealed the back sides of the mating pairs with silicon to help keep dirt and moister out. Before reconnection, I coated the sides of the male plug with dielectric grease to help with the sealing process. Vic recommends replacing the brake hoses with new ones. There is a link regarding braided stainless steel lines on this site. Check it out. This is a spring project for me. Other will jump in with more suggestions. I dont know what you guys do to your water pumps but I didnt need to change mine out till 220,000 k. The bearing were fine but the seal had gone.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

The bearing were fine but the seal had gone.Mine started to drip at 105,000 km, when I pulled it out I found that the bearings where completely gone and the shaft had been riding on the seals until they wore out. I am not sure what to say about the water pump issue I had because I was new to the bike. I am just saying what I found and what I needed to do to resolve the problems. I do know that the bike sat idle for about 5 years and that is not good for any motor/system.

I have had mine from new and I do change the coolant every two years, maybe this helped.
Having them sit doesnt doo them much good I agree.
