Water pump parts

I use my local Honda dealer for parts, It might be different in the US but by the time were nailed for shipping and customs clearance it's usually the best.
When you replace the cover make sure the neutral switch is in the correct position Replace ALL O rings, I use crisco to make sure they stay in place. I use grease on the gaskets both sides, I dont get any oil leaks. When replacing the two collars open them up a little with an exacto blade this will insure a snug fit on assyembly Use new crush washers when installing the pump and lube the two O rings on the pump liberally to ensure they dont pinch. pump 1 of 19200-MG9-681 washer 3 " 90443-397-000 6mm should be able to get them at an auto parts place O ring 1 " 91303-283-000 37.2 x 2.3 mm O ring 1 " 91356-706-000 56 x 2.4 mm Gasket 1 391-MG9-000 front cover O ring 2 91312-371-003 23 X 2.1 MM O ring 2 91333-567-010 17 x 2.5 mm O ring 1 91345-580-000 29 x 2.2 mm Gasket 1 11391-MG9-306 replaces 11391-MG9-000 Added by wingman 71 O-ring 91305-KT7-003 replaces 91303-283-000 O-ring 91333-KE5-003 replaces 91333-567-010 The missing gasket is the water pump gasket, part number 11396-371-306, that goes under the water pump cover! Canât do the job without it. Also, while youâre at it you might as well replace the o-ring under the water pump gooseneck cap. O-ring part number 91305-426-003.

They changed from the plastic to steel impeller in 85
You will get a small back and forth rotation but it sounds like your bearings are OK.

One more question for tricky. since i have the radiator and block drained and blew out couple weeks of drying should i go the Evans coolant thing. My radiator guy says its clean and to keep doing what ever it is i do to keep it that way. I have never boiled it over but when the fan comes on it will not cycle off until i ride a little ways. I cant say what the gage says because i just replaced the sending unit. thanks for all the insites and tips i dont know what i would do without this site.

In my opinion, if your not having any problems I would stick with the regular coolant.
I use Honda type 2 premix Sitting in the garage, my Aspy fan cycles on and off when the temperature calls for fan. If it is cycling on and off then that is normal

My 86 Aspy once the fan comes on does not cycle off. I have let it run for 5 minutes or so with the fan on no cycling but no over heat. I will see what happens if the temp sender i just replaced works at least i may know if the temp goes up and down. thanks.

Anybody know what sound to you might hear when the waterpump is going bad. I have a roaring noise that is really noticeable at high speeds. What happens if one of the fins breaks off the impeller? When I pulled into the garage yesterday, I heard a sound like something broke loose in the area of the waterpump. Guess the only way to check is to open it up.

Possibly the noise is from a belt tensioner bearing gone bad...

I am having a heating problem after the ext. alternator install. I don't know how high the heat gauge should go on a 90 degree day but mine creeps up at high Interstate speed to only having 2 bars left to be in the red. Have any of you had this? I haven't had the rad off to have it boiled out. looks clean with 72k miles on it.
Do any of you use Water Wetter antifreeze additive? If so, what are your thoughts. Also, do water pumps make any noise when they are going bad? Thanks for any replies. Bob |

Tricky,
Iâm in the middle of replacing my water pump and have found a few superseded part numbers, plus one important gasket that was not on your original list: O-ring 91305-KT7-003 replaces 91303-283-000 O-ring 91333-KE5-003 replaces 91333-567-010 The missing gasket is the water pump gasket, part number 11396-371-306, that goes under the water pump cover! Canât do the job without it. Also, while youâre at it you might as well replace the o-ring under the water pump gooseneck cap. O-ring part number 91305-426-003. I think that does it.

If ever fluid comes out of the weep hole, it's simply telling you that something is wrong. It should either be coolant or oil. It's designed to allow the fluid to escape without contaminating. Oil in the coolant is bad, and coolant in the oil can be fatal.
