Whether or not to change the starter.
The battery is fully changed. I push the start button, I hear the solenoid click and the head light goes very dim. The starter doesn't turn at all. If it is the starter, where can I get one ?

Try this first. Use a car battery or your car. Connect a booster cable to the electrical lug on the bike's starter, connect the other end to the car's battery positive terminal. Connect the other booster cable to the negative car battery terminal. Make sure the bike is in neutral and on the center stand. Now solidly touch and release the negative end of the booster booster cable to the bottom of the frame on the bike and see if the starter turns. If it does you might have a bad solenoid, if it doesn't turn the starter most likely needs brushes which are available on Ebay in a kit form. You could have a burned out starter but this is rare.

Check it out and let us know what you find.

Well I had to have a new starter installed on my GL1200. Cost for starter from Honda is $349.99. Still argueing with dealer, as to whether or not the engine had to be removed. Sad

The engine does not have to come out and usually a $10. set of brushes will fix the problem and if you can't install them yourself a car starter shop can install them for $20.

You paid $349.99 for a new starter and installation? I see these new starters on ebay for under $200.00 all the time if you did need a new one. Ebay is a good place to get parts. Much cheaper than your Honda Dealer. MHO

I had the exact same symptom with my 84 Wing and replacing the solenoid behind the battery corrected this issue.

ill go for Vics method using ur car battery or even ur own bike battery you just need to pass by the solenoid to check if the starter is bad or not. if the starter turns even a bit, you may have some problem at the solenoid or even a burn wire. good luck and stay away from ur honda stealer Big Grin
