oil orifice between block and head
I think I may have goofed up, I just read where there is two o rings on the oil orifice. one small and one larger. when I put mine back on I just put the one o ring on the block side. do I need to take the heads back off? or will that one o ring suffice. it doesn't seem like the oil could get back by the o ring in the block, but I could be wrong. also can I reuse the new head gaskets if I have already torqued them? thanks for any expert advise........... I wouldn't advise you to do anything other than the right thing.

Yes it is a pain when one screws up, but think of the possible damage that MAY be done if the O ring is omitted.

If it was me I wouldn't reuse the head gaskets, if you did and it leaked again you have to take them off for a third time. Your call.

Just think of it as a learning curve that you wont do again

Make sure you coat the threads with moly lube otherwise you will not get the correct torque

Thanks for the reply and the diagram, I don't think I'll take a chance, I'll pull the heads and redo...... your right, experence is expensive. wonder if I can get the head gaskets without buying a whole gasket set? Thanks again, this forum is wonderful, glad I found it........ :-bd

I used my local honda dealer and got the o rings, and gaskets, valve cover seals, and what ever else I needed without buying a whole gasket set.

If you have not started the engine & the gaskets don't stick to the block or heads anywhere I would reuse them. I have done it with out any problems. Poorboy

The only part of the head gasket that might be in question is the metal ring around the cylinder bore area... This work just like the crush washers on the spark plugs... As long as you torque the heads in several steps then the crush ring part of the gasket should still be OK... If the motor had been run till reaching operating temp, then I would consider new gaskets... Inspect the metal ring and if it appears deformed at all, then go with new... If it appears to be flat and even thickness, then I'd go ahead and just reuse em...
Do get the O-ring thing straight through... You could likely loose oil pressure up to the valve train with out it...
