First chance to ride a GL1800

A 2001 with 135000 km on the clock, well maintained. Power is smoooth, you can feel the added rigidity in the chassis from the aluminum frame, handling is tighter than my GL1200 (with more ride harshness on busted surfaces - in my opinion) - all around - what a great bike! I even waved ( wave returned ) at two other riders and I didn't even crash takin' one hand off the bars like that...

Rode the gl1800 once and yes it is a fantastic bike. But, it is heavy as hell in the parking lot, but that disappears pretty well once rolling. I hope to have either the gl1800 or bmw r1200rt to go with the gl1200 when I retire.. (I can dream anyways)

So if a guy does ride a GL1800, do you have to quit wavin' to other riders?

Only if you haven't changed the front tire and the steering head bearings lately.

I feel very lucky to get a chance to ride on Gold-wing 1800..It was a great experience for me..Gold-wing series is legendary in reliability and is able to go hundreds of thousands of miles and still withstand the test of time Gold Wing 1800 is lighter, more luxurious and a great deal more powerful than ever before..I think Gold Wing 1800 is an immensely pleasurable motorcycle of Honda ..

lighter?? My 2003 1800 weighed 930 lbs with ABS. Heavy in slow parking lot mode. The engine is fantastic for smoothness and power. Body tupperware rattles a lot. If you are strong enough to handle this brute, it is a fine ride.

Me and a buddy went for an all day ride. Me on my SEi and him on his 1800. We swapped out a couple of times. I think my 1200 was well represented and I am more than happy with the ride I came home with!

I have been on a number of GL1800's and similar to your experience I have never once been disappointed when I got back on my GL1200 for the ride home. The only thing I really appreciated about the 1800 over the 1200 was the considerable, smooth, bottom end torque but if I keep the revs up on my 1200 it still delivered an excellent excitement factor.

Only problem I have with the 1500 and 1800 is you can't see the motor. I know that sounds stupid, but............................It's a MOTOR cycle! I like to see the motor on a motorcycle. Don't get me wrong, down the road someday I might get one, but if my 1200s keep rolling along and I can keep getting parts, then I can't see spending that kind of bread on a newer version. The 1200 fits me fine!

I had a test ride on an 1800 in July. I really liked it, but the wife likes her 1200......

i've been on a test ride three times this year on the same 2010 1800. i love the brakes and the extra power it has over my 1200 and 1500 wing but i don't see a good enough reason to replace either of my wings with an 1800
