Re: 1500 rear drive unit

Hello all...last fall I put a 1500 rear drive unit on my 1200 LTD.
All works well...my only concern is the round black dust cover.
I'm using the 1200 cover...but it doesn't fit very well...and I can't use the 1500 cover as it is about a quarter inch diameter bigger that the wheel.
Any suggestions as to what you guys have done who have done this swap??

I installed a 1500 rear drive unit on my 1200 two years ago. I haven't had any problems with it at all. The 1200 dust cover seem to work fine. Can you post some picks of how your cover is fitting and I will check mine out and see if there is a difference?

What year 1500 did the drive come from.??? I'm not certain just what year it was that the 1500 rear was changed to a different type, (I think it was 93 or 94)... I am going a bit of a different route in that I am going to put the whole 1500 rear in (drive, wheel, rotor, and brake mount)... Hopefully no more bearing problems after teh switch... Another benny is an additional 90 lbs load capacity on the rear tire...

It came from a 1998 1500. The owner got the bike in 1998 and decided to put a trike kit on it in 1999. He kept the final drive in his shop until two years ago when I got it.
