Strange noise from the front

Okay, here goes;
Got my '84 Interstate in March. Have put about 500 miles on it with no problems other than having the front wheel bearings replaced the week after I got it (by Honda shop since I have had no garage till this past Tues). I went out yesterday and with the radio off and running through town around 30mph I notices a kind of off-and-on noise from the front. It didn't keep a constant noise or even a regular interval, but would be pretty regular as I went along. As far as drivability, nothing was different. I stopped and put it on the centerstand, engine running, and put it in gear (safety first) and could hear no noise with the rear wheel spinning. Left it in neutral and revved the engine with no noise. Even got it home on the c-stand and spun the front wheel as hard as I could and could hear no noise. The only thing I can figure is there may be a speedometer gear in the front hub that may have gotten messed up during the bearing replacement? Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated. The Wing is only two years younger than I am and I don't make funny noises going down the road so I don't believe it should either. Thanks Guys, You all are great informants for my Wing Woes |

Sounds to me like you need to turn the radio on..... 8)

I had an intermittent noise in the front end of my 84 Aspy. I thought it was the brakes so I took everything off and went through everything Didn't fix the problem :evil:
Soo - finally took off the speedo gear and opened it up - dry as a bone! Amazing it didn't strip - greased it up and problem solved. Hope this helps Jim

Put your location in your profile otherwise you risk being booted from the forum. Also check the dates on the posts before replying to them. I hope that that problem was solved in 2007
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.
