Rebuilding Front/Rear suspension selector valve

Hi Guys, Newbie member- 86 Gl1200 Aspencade
I have a bleed over in pressure from rear to front on the suspension. This makes the front end too stiff for my liking. Have not as yet disassembled . Is it a rebuildable valve, or do I need to find another? Any input will be greatly appreciated! TRK66 :roll:

It is typical for the spillover to occur in that valve. Are you sure that the front shocks are being overinflated or is the problem really with the gauge reading only? Try playing with the valve switches to determine what is really happening.

I check the pressures with the LCD display. Increasing the pressure in the rear also causes the front to increase. If I start to increase rear when the front is at max recommended pressure, front pressure will increase beyond the scale. I'm not sure how accurate the gage is to actual pressures, but pressure definitely shows an increase. I have had the bike for approx. 2 years, this condition was not apparent when I first rode it. Condition just showed up this past riding season. TRK66

I'm wondering about the condition of the dessicant in the air system. If the dessicant bag has ruptured it may have spread contaminants through the system or if the dessicant has degraded beyond use there could be moisture in the system which can cause corrosion.
You might want to buy a new dessicant bag and pull the compressor to install it. While doing so you can blow out the entire system with clean compressed air and make sure the valves and seats are free of any debris that could be causing the leakage.

Thanks again for the response!
I have ordered new dessicant and parts to renew the air system while doing my offseason maintenance. I'll be checking all valves and seals to restore system to newlike condition. This might take me a few weeks as I am currently rebuilding entire braking system. I will post a followup after disassembly of the valve. ![]()

I have taken my air valve apart and although suffering from the same bleed through haven't seen anything untoward during the dismantling. I did have an excess of oil (I think) in there coming back from the front forks maybe that caused it. Will see when we over come this global warming and get back to saner temperatures.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.
