Auxiliary Fuse Panel
I need to add an auxiliary fuse panel to my 86 Interstate so that I can add a stereo and a CB/intercom. I've already tried the space under the left side cover, it's not deep enough. Where is a good location to mount one?

The easiest way to do it, would be to use a relay which you could strap to any convenient part of the bike or just tuck it down the side of the breather.
I did put an aux fuse panel in but when I installed the external alternator I removed the regulator and used that area for a 6 fuse aux panel

Thanks, Tricky!

I'm trying to find a physical space big enough to accommodate a 6 circuit aux fuse panel. I'm hoping someone's found a spot that's accessible without removing the seat or anything else requiring tools to get to. I'll have to send power to both ends of the bike as I'm installing a marine stereo with a remote face on the bar and the main unit in the trunk, and later on a CycleComm CB in the fairing.

Actually, I just had a brainstorm... I don't use the tray inside the shelter to store anything - that should be plenty of room, all I have to do is allow extra wire so I can move it out of the way when I change the air filter or access the bike's original fuse panel!

I was just thinking of this the other day and thought why not use the tray inside the false tank. There's plenty of room and it's close to where the Honda put theirs. You know what they say about great minds... Smile

William, I don't think that there's enough room next to the old one. If I'm going to the trouble to add another one, might as well make it so it so it has a few extra spots incase I need to wire more things in later. I know there is a limit to the power supply the 1200 puts out, but I'm figuring on switching over to the poor-boy alternator if and when the stator goes. Having said that, understand I've been saying this for a few years now. Seems like that stator just likes to keep on working, and I'm not complaining!

Oldman, I agree - there's not enough room next to the stock fuse panel, and the tray we're talking about sits right on top of it. It's either that, or individual fuse holders, something I'm not too hot on doing as it's hard to keep them neatly arranged. I'm shopping now to find the smallest panel that I can. If I do this right, I can wire the panel to a connector so it will be easier to get the tray out when I need to.
