Is your pump not working?
Turn the ignition switch off. Disconnect the fuel pump relay from the coupler under the ignition coils. Short the white and black wire coupler terminals with a jumper wire. Disconnect the fuel pump outlet line at the 3-way joint and hold a graduated beaker under the tube. Turn the ignition switch on, let fuel flow into the beaker for 5 seconds, then turn the ignition switch off. Multiply the amount in the beaker by 12 to determine the fuel pump flow capacity per minute. Fuel Pump Minimum Flow: 500 cc (1 6.9 oz)lminute
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

The test would be the same. Since it's off the bike you'll to need to have a fuel source. You're looking for fuel pump capacity. (how much fuel it will deliver in a specific amount of time). Rather than setting up a tank or reservoir to draw from, simply disconnect the fuel line from the pump already on your bike, and connect it to the pump you want to test. Supply power and ground to the pump (making sure your polarity is correct) and perform the test as Tricky described.

or simply run a hose from a gas can, and the return hose back into the can. You don't have to actually measure the volume. You'll know right off if it's working properly.

Wrong! Capacity is a critical test on ANY fuel pump. Just because it pumps, doesn't mean it pumps ENOUGH. It's like pushing the button on your smoke detector. All it tells you is that the batteries are good. Not if the smoke detector actually works!

OK then, you can do the easy test first.
If it doesn't pump at all, or very little, you can skip several steps and go straight to a new pump.

Just to close out this thread, I found an old, rusted up, butt ugly fuel pump in the garage and sent it to Misty. She reports the bike "runs" now.
