Howdy from Maricopa, Arizona
Hi all,

First post from an Arizonan with a 1985 GL1200L with 45k miles. Bought it a few years ago but have yet to ride it. Of course it had been sitting for many years before I bought it. Overall, it appeared to be in great condition. After draining and cleaning the fuel system, installing a new battery and plugs, I was able to get it started but as soon as it hit operating temperature, it would load up (running very rich) and die. Attempts to drive it showed it would barely run and was lucky to get back home before a few hundred yards. Replaced the rectifier/regulator cause the battery wasn't charging then spent many an hour trying to figure out why it was running so rich. Replaced several sensors, then frustrated, put it away for a year while I searched the forums, etc. looking for clues. All signs pointed towards the throttle position sensor which was not available anymore. Followed other owner's suggestions to replace it with an earlier Honda auto TPS. Just finished that mod and it seems to be better now. Before I take it out though, I would like to see what's up with other systems that don't appear to be working or working properly. One question before posting on those though; is the travel computer clock and map supposed to be on all the time, even when the switch is off and the key is removed? Seems like a sure fire way to drain the battery. Wish I could find an owner's manual. I do have the Supplemental Service manual.

Thanks for reading!

Can't you find an owners manual on eBay or sites like that ?
You can download a pdf here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/128824...-1985.html

That one is for the Aspencade. It doesn't cover the Limited which is more complex.
