Greetings from me and Rusty Rita
Hey all, picked up an 87 interstate this weekend 32k for 1625. Haven't even had a chance to test the current stator, so it may be a-ok for now. Either way still planning to do the poorboy mod. Got a buttload to do before I get there though. Tires are ancient and shot. Forks don't have any oil in em. Yadda yadda

Wanted to ask, what is the general timeframe it takes to put one of these on? Presuming you don't puncture the radiator, snap something off in the block, have all the parts etc.

Thanks!

Since we all like looking at these things, here is Rita. https://roscowgo1.smugmug.com/Goldwing/i-VCPRBPn

If you have all the parts you can do it in a day.
Take your time, if it takes a week it's all in a good cause right?
You could do with a manual.

Engine bolts...... lefty loosey.... righty tighty.

Plenty of wd40

When installing stuff I use easy off paste on nuts etc, will prevent extra rusting.

Change the front fork springs to progressive
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

Thanks. Yep got the manual.

I'm hoping to get her on the road fairly quick, and pop in the progressives as it gets colder. I love my burgman, but I want to ride the new girl before the ice shows up too.
Providing the stator isn't a pile of melted slag, same with the alt.

And then.... then the rust. groan.

Been working on the old gal. Whew. She needs more than I knew. Forks. Belts, rebuilt both front calipers. New pads, new tires. Been yanking out really bad old wiring.

Speaking of rebuilding the calipers, BrakeCrafters. Good stuff, and super awesome CS.

And pretty sure my stator is on the way out.

Everywhere I look poorboys email seems to show up different. Emailed him (or someone at least) about buying one. Dunno if i got the right address though.

The other 7 well they were for others nobody has come back to me with any probs
If your thinking of the poor boy I tell ya there a great conversion
First one took me 35 hrs labour to do
Got the hang of it eventually the last one took 8 hrs

Take care now
