New brake pads?
So I took the saddle bags and travel trunk off to clean up some of the bright work. While it is disassembled, I thought that I would tackle some maintenance that I have not had a chance to do before now. Specifically, I thought that I would replace the brake pads.

I looked at the procedure in the Clymer manual and it looks fairly straight forward. Is it as easy as it looks? Any recommendations with respect to pads (OEM, after-market)?

Thanks, neo.

Picked up some EBC pads yesterday. Just need the time to install them...and replenish the fluid.

But that brings me to my next question....for brake fluid, what do the instruction mean when they say use "fresh brake fluid from a sealed container"? Can I use new fluid from a half-filled bottle that has had the cap on? Or do I just get brand new containers?

I usually have a can on hand to do any topping up, but that never happens, when I was riding actively I would change it every year, not that it needs it but it's what I did.
As long as the can was capped I doubt much air got into the fluid.

I would use a turkey baster and suck all the fluid out of the master cylinders, clean out any grunge from the bottom, put new fluid in, loosen the bleed valve slide a rubber hose on put the other end in a jar and pull on the lever, pump the old fluid out and replace with the new, making sure the fluid was not allowed to get to the bottom of the cylinder (keep it topped up) This way you ensure that no air enters the system.

BE WARE brake fluid will eat paint keep the area around covered with cloths
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

It also discolors the black plastic on the lockable fairing pocket...
