Throttle Tube Plastic vs metal handlebar ends - fragile

Hi riders & wrenchers
Greetings from the UK. I'm restoring an '84 plain Jane State and come across a problem. As you know, laughing!:- The left hand grip tube is metal. The right hand throttle tube is plastic? Why? Was it to save money? To help protect the project, I need to install stainless heavy handlebar bar ends, but I've just thought this. There is no problem with the left hand grip tube, only the right side. Putting a stainless expanding insert into the plastic throttle tube, may create a fracture, not safe and scary guys. Is there a metal throttle tube that I can replace and that will keep me and others safe. Should I get side swiped, I need that right bar end to be steadfast, rigid and not break up, being plastic! Any advice, greatly appreciated guys! Ride safe always! Angel (female Wing rider & wrencher!) |
