rear shock rebuild
I've been looking at the old threads and I found one that had a list of parts to rebuild the shocks. But it was all symbols. I was hoping some one has a list of part numbers and where to get them. I have the stock air shocks on my 1984 Aspencade. Can anyone help. The price for a new set is a little high for the wallet right now. Thanks for the help.

91257-MG9-671 OIL SEAL - this is the oil seal which is usually the part which allows the oil to leak out. What usually causes the seal to leak is use or dirt, similar your fork seals.
When you have the shock apart, inspect the damper body on the area of the seal, making sure the damper body surface is smooth. Any peaks or valleys will cause the new seal to leak again. This part is still available through Mamma Honda. The upper and lower rubber bushings, and the rubber boot are also available through the Dealers.
I remember a pictorial of how to rebuild the rear shocks, but I can't seem to locate it right now. Searching the WWW will probably be faster. It is probably on You-Tube also. I would suggest reading/watching about several rebuilds and pick the process you are most comfortable with.
Remember, these shocks use oil and air. Use soapy water to check for air leaks.

A second source for the boot is

Black is not the only color available, you can get other colors as well.
My local Oreilly's Auto parts didn't carry this, I had to go to Napa.

Side bar - Showa makes the rear shocks for our beloved bikes. They make them for some of the Harley-Davidson bikes as well, those shocks are shorter than ours. Harley-Davidson no longer carries the oil seal, but it is the same seal we use, so the Harley-Davidson folks are buying the replacement seal from Honda.

I hope this helps.
