Why do you own more than 1 GL1200 at the same time?
As the thread subject states, why do you own (or want to own) more than 1 GL1200 at the same time?
Since I have owned and leaned about my GL1200 Interstate (1984 model), with the intention of using it for a daily 60 mile commute, I always thought having spares in-house would minimize my down time. I imagined having spare rims so I could simply remove the rim on the bike with the worn tire and replace it with a tire I mounted on a spare rim the week earlier. Down time could be minimized.
So my intention was a donor bike with usable spare parts.

Secretly I lusted for a 1984 GL1200 Standard. Imagine, an undressed GL1200!!!!! 1200cc's of motorcycle!!!!!

I ran across an undressed 1984 Interstate (Interstate, not an Aspencade according to the guy I spoke to). The bike is missing all the parts which make it a dresser, plus handlebars, the clutch and front brake master cylinders, the ignition module, reg./rec., seat, side covers, and the rear fender.
All the rest of the bike is there and fully roll-able, along with chromed lower legs, timing belt covers, valve covers and some chrome-plated Drag Specialty parts (fuel pump and rotor covers with lights.) There are a lot of usable parts on this bike which is (IMO) more complete than incomplete.
The bike turns out to be a 1984 Standard so it may not be getting used as a donor........

That's my story....................................................................................................................................and I am sticking to it.

What is your story?

I bought a brand new 85 Aspencade in 85 after previously owning an 84 Interstate. It has stayed with me and still runs fine, I bought another 85 Aspencade with lower mileage on in 2013 same colour same model, figured I could use my original for parts if I needed any, of course this being a gold wing, both are in great condition, never had the heart to sell my original, but I think that might come around this spring.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.
