Normal current draw (amps)

Hi folks and glad to see this site is back up and running as it was off line a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering if anyone has measured the normal current flow in series with the battery for an 84 Aspencade while not running but with the ignition key in the "on" position. In other words, how much current does the electrical system draw just to run the lights, ect. (approximately) as I realize it will depend on what electrical accessories the bike has.

I haven't done this with my Interstate but I suspect there is a way to calculate the draw.

Knowing the watts of the lights in use will allow you to calculate current, then just add it all up. That is the estimated version and not the true version.
The clock will draw some current as well as any other equipment, radio, cb and such.
These values could be calculated by taking them out of the circuit, then reintroducing them.
There may also be some current in the mA range from just being an electrical system built in the 1980's.
A nice base value may come from cars.
Talking to an automotive electrician with experience with cars from the 1970's and 1980's may be able to give you a value he as repeatedly seen.
