Fuel tank shut off petcock, Do you use it?

On my 86 Aspencade there is a fuel tank shut-off petcock.
On one page the manual says you don't need to use it, because there is a fuel shut off in the fuel pump. Then in another part of the manual it says to shut off the gas everytime.

What do you guys do?

only use it if I am working on fuel pump etc

on my aspy mine is covered by the engine covers, on my sei doesn't work at all
it is i good thing to use in case you have some leaking floats etc or if one decides to do so while sitting,knock on wood

ok I use it when I changed the fuel filter and fuel lines

used when working on:
fuel pump
fuel filter
carburetors
other items which causes the bike to be down for a period of time (it takes the fuel in the tank pressure off the fuel pump and reduces the chance of causing a leak in the pump)

Think of it this way, HONDA would have left it off if they felt it wasn't needed.......
