knowing ebay i am sure that their reason is about making it easier to reclaim a buyers money in case there is a complaint and the buyer wants his money back
read ebay money back guarantees fine print one time,it really is pretty good considering a buyer is covered regardless if the seller says they dont accept returns

Are you talking about motorcycles or regular items?
I have done over 500 transactions on Ebay, about half buying and half selling things. Some of my sales have been over $400.00 for one item. They have never held my money at anytime. Several things have been sold with buyer money back guarantee. The only problem I had started when I made a mistake on the listing, and a jerk in Italy took advantage of it. Ebay took the money out of my Paypal account before I received the returned item. Man did I yell in their ear about that. I will never list anything as new again. There was no hold on the money, and I had already spent most of it, I just resold the item and covered the costs. For me the advantage with Ebay, for the model airplane stuff I mostly sell, is that I deal directly with collectors, all over the world, and therefor get the best prices. One time I got a model outboard motor at the local hobby shop for $20, I sold it for $385 to a guy in Australia. Sometimes when I am buying things, I think I have caught the rest of the world sleeping. I have bought some things for an embarrassingly low price. I bought my 1985 GL1200 Limited Edition for under $2700 about 7 years ago. The seller had taken very bad pictures, but I studied them for 7 days, and convinced myself that the bike was in good condition. When I got my hands on it, it was in better condition than I could have dreamed.

When they took the sellers ability to leave negative feedback they opened up the sellers to ANYTHING they want to do to you! I will not sell on eBay unless it is a last resort and that hasn't happened for years now, I quit right after the feedback "thing". It is "seller beware" if you want to use eBay.
