Alternator conversion

Many thanks to Don, wingnoob, and everyone else who has posted up on the conversions! Did conversion two weeks ago. Battery is 12.4 at idle and 14.3 as soon as its above 1100 rmp. This was much easier than I expected. I had about 12-15 hours total. Much of this was spent on line looking and deciding on how, where, etc. The one tool I couldn't live without would be an air or electric grinder/ cut off wheel. Rest could almost use a cresent wrench.
Biggest regret is not doing this a year ago. Now to find that perfect fuse panel to live where the reg/rec used to be. Again many Thanks to all the brain power the members put in and the effort of sharing that brain power.

I did the conversion on my '84I and am considering using a fuse box and the fb bracket from a donor '84I. Just fab up an adaptor to go from the original R/R bracket to the fb bracket. The routing for the wire from the battery is still there and can be upgraded, so it can power the fb and from there, some accessories or other concerns.
You and others all have the same response when it comes to the conversion, 'I should have done this earlier!" Thanks Don. -Congratulations
enjoying the view from the saddle....... due mainly to the people and information found within this site
