Thought I would just ramble a bit.

The Goldwing has been running pretty good this summer. The cooling fan is not working, but its not a show stopper, being as I don't see much traffic, and fall weather has hit us of late. So fan work becomes a winter project.

Tomorrow my wife and I plan to make a run to a festival in the town of Friendship Indiana. Its not an epic journey, about 100 miles each way. But it will most likely be our longest of this year.

We have been going to Friendship for a lot of years, its the national Black Powder meet, they do it 2x a year in June and again in September. Some years we went both times, we never attend the powder shoots, we go for the open flea market, its a lot of fun and you can find just about anything there.

We started going almost 20 years ago with my wife's high school friend and her husband. But we lost her friend to cancer two years ago, and we just couldn't bring ourselves to go last year. We had always talked about riding motorcycles down, but our friends hadn't had a bike in years, we always just drove together and made a grand day of it all. We would leave almost before daylight and often didn't make it back till up in the night. We all looked forward to the day, and planned all year for it.

We had to change something if we where ever going to go back, the memories of all those times are just to hard. Our friends husband is a great guy, one of the nicest people I have ever meet, he is slowly getting on with his life. They had been married right at 30 years. He just can't find it in him to make the trip, I understand.

So tomorrow we are going to ride the wing over and try and make some different memories. Parts of the day will be hard, but I hope we can remember them as the happy times they where and not dwell on the fact they can't be repeated. We are both looking forward to the day together, weather is suppose to be store bought perfect.

I hope to post a picture or two when we get back if anyone is interested.

It was a great day. We really had a good time, bike ran like a new one, no issues at all.
It's about a 100 miles one way, but we took the "long" way home, I would say we added at least 50 miles to the trip home. My speedo cable is broke, so I am not sure! Got one on order, winter project.

We also ran into a very long detour, I never did see where it put us back on the road we where on! So I know that put us a good 20 or 30 miles out of our way. But it was no big deal, I didn't know exactly where I was at, but I was not lost, I am sure you men understand.

Because she could only buy what could fit in the bags, this was the cheapest trip to Friendship we ever made.

I think it will be a trip we will again look forward to every year. We made some new memories and shared our favorites too. The ride became a much bigger part of the day.

Right after we got there:

The wife and I like to go to Friendship also but the last few years we have been to busy and things just seem to pop up. I like the color of your Goldwing. We get out and ride when we can but grandkids doing things and my younger son running Ironman races has kept us going this summer.
I guess winters are for fixing and adding things to our Bikes.
Good to see someone from Indiana on here.
