GL1200 Ingition Switch

To All,
I have an 84 GL1200I and the Ignition switch is failing, I've read all about the recall on the switches; but taking it to a dealer would be a hassle, Has anyone wired up a push button start? Now I'm not electrically inclined, but it does not seem it would be that hard. I really do not need a key and I would like to eliminate the problem completely. All advise is appreciated. As always, Ride Safe. Bodag |

I picked up a full lock set off of ebay It was off an 87 and it was the updated switch set.
It looked good in the pictures and has been working fine for me. The local stealer here said the switch was no longer available. I do know others have gotten one from a dealer recently under the recall. ymmv

I own a 1986 Gl1200i. I was having some problems and I did a voltage leak test and I was getting over 12 volts leaking. I think I have ran it down to the ignition switch. I have checked all over the internet and can not find a replacement switch. After reading the threads from previous, posts that this was a problem before. Does anyone know where I ight find a replacement at a reasonable price or am going to have to buy one that will have to be rigged to work on my bike?
