Park lights not working

The park lights on my 87 Interstate stopped working. They worked last month when I got a sticker. No power to either side of the fuse. Looked for chewed or frayed wires but did not find any.

Welcome to the Forum.
Your bike is almost 30-years old. You are the (fill in the blank) owner. All POs have varying ways of caring for 'YOUR' bike. Start with inspecting and cleaning the areas which have already been suggested to solve your current problem. Don't stop there! Continue to inspect and clean ALL electrical connections and inspect the wiring harness in general for deformed (melted) insulation, plastic plugs and 'repairs/modifications' the POs have performed. It will be a great education for you. -Ride On

Welcome to the forum.
I am not the original owner of mine but I'm just going to through this out there. there is a long time wing owner here locally that gave me a suggestion and it worked out great for me, when I bought my wing it had many electrical issues and he suggested taking the faring off and take every plug apart and spray them with a contact cleaner called Nu-Trol as it is not a silicone base product. (I did have to pull the Engine to do the stator anyway) it worked out great for me and fixed quite a few of the electrical issues I was dealing with.

Thanks for all of the usefull tips. In going through the entire wiring harness I was finally able to to find a chewed wire and a blown fuseable link up in the fairing. Now I can ride at night again. thanks again.

Well, I spoke too soon. Sometimes the park lights work and some times they don't. I am thinking that it may be in the ignition. I am looking at a new one on Ebay.
I will try a little more cleaning before I start replacing anything. |

the parking lights do receive power thru fuse 7 and in conjunction with one of the ign switches circuits, but if the ign switch was bad you should be losing power to the turn signals when the parking light go out,i think your problem is in connector C59,if the instrument lights dont go out with the parking lights i think your problem may be in the connectors or sockets in the parking lights
pm me your email address and i'll send the circuit diagram from the 87 Honda ETM
