Installing a 1500 Pulse Gen in a 1985 1200A
Hello, guys, I'm a brand new Wing owner, haven't even had a chance to ride it yet but excited to do so. The problem, my PG's are fryed. I have been told that the upgrade for this is the 1500 PG's. I've been searching for two days but could find no information to support it, then was suggested I visit your site. I'm glad I did, what a great site!

My question is what kind of mods will I need to do to get the 1500 PG's to work in my 1200A and are there any pitfalls to makeing the swap? I would like to know before I order the part. I haven't been able to find this information anywhere but I'm certain you fine folks can help.

Thanks again,
Vince

I hope so too, I've never seen anything like it. I've read pages and pages of forum posts and on indie websites and not a single follow through. I have read a couple of posts on this site that was very close, one was with the 1500 PG's on a LTD/SE. I'm just not sure if the ino I read would be good for my 1200A, also.

I have little to no knowledge about these Honda's

Why don't you just install some 1200 PG's ?

My understanding is the 1500's are a much better design. I was told it was the upgrade and nearly a direct swap, very little modifacation. If I can put in a PG that's not really known to fail over a verified weak component, why wouldn't I want to?

I haven't seen an inordinate number of them fail

the 1500 PG conversion is more related to the crank sensor on the ltd/sei's, and since the pg's are available new for the 1200's cant see going a hard route to fix the problem, whereas a new set will most likely outlive the mc

Well guys, for me, this just became a moot point, at least for the time being. The deal I made for the 1200A had to be undone today and I just replaced the PG's and got the bike running.

However, I did get enought time on it to convince me that I definately need one of these machines. I don't really know which bike to go for, so I'll be making another post. I look forward to everyones input!

Peace!
