Water Pump Replacement

I ordered all of the parts that are listed in the sticky above, but going through a step-by-step on another forum there was mention of replacing the oil seal that appears to be mounted on the front of the engine (the water pump shaft appears to go through it) and looks like the oil shaft seal. This seal is included in the aftermarket kits sold on eBay but isn't in the list above. Is it safe to assume that it isn't normally required to be replaced?

I would definitely replace that seal because if it fails coolant is allowed into the engine oil and that destroys the crankshaft bearings.

Do you know what the part number is for that seal?

It doesn't show the seal on the front cover schematic but it might be 91207-580-003 OIL SEAL (10X25X7) I don't think I changed the seal when I did the job.

That is what I assumed since you didn't mention the seal in your parts post. I probably will order one since I'll be in there anyway. I was going to order the complete gasket/o-ring kit from eBay but thought that parts from Mother Honda was a better idea.
