STARTER BURNED OUT?

$124.00 sounds good to me as well. I paid $170 in Kitchener last fall. But boy does that thing spin now.

Cold front blowing through today, of course the starter showed up. suposed to be in the 50's friday. have a late night at work tomorow so plan on an early day friday and home to install starter and new running lights. Will keep posted, thanks.

Now I'm thinking about becoming pi__ed off. New starter in and it engages but engine wont crank. Like its locked up. Could the chain be off top sprocket? would be loose would'nt it? Going to check it out. I will also pull plugs and see if I can turn it over by hand; that should be possible without plugs in, right? Any thoughts!!??!@#$%^&*() Also, I now have bike on side stand and when I removed old starter, oil ran out of hole the starter fits in. I'm hoping this is normal since it is leaning to the side the starter is on.

OK. Looks like it had a case of heartburn. Pulled plugs, put in gear and turned tire, it moved ok, motor not locked. Chain drive freewheeled one way and caught trying to go the other, Good to go. Put a new set of plugs in, decided I would hook everything back up because if it didn't work this time I was goung to take to the lake and make a boat anchor! Looked for 1/2 hour for exhaust seals I just bought, faught exhaust for another 20 min. Engine guard back on, shifter instaled, floorboards all looked ok. I turned the key on and hit the button; INSTANT START Never saw a bike start so quick in my life. Thanks for all the support. By the way, I also got a volt guage while waiting for starter; New alternator runs great, 14.2v at Idle! about 14.7 at 3000rpm. Thanks to all again. As soon as I get my new lights on I will post some pics of "LIZZY MARMALADE" for your viewing pleasure

ONE of the joys which comes with owning a GL1200...... hours of removing and installing stuff to get to the stuff which need servicing.......

Ya, and while you have this off to fix that you might as well do that thing also. I'm loving it. Been in the upper 20's to low 30's but I've been riding to work every day since its back together! About 22 miles one way; probly would'nt go much more than that though till it warms up a little more.
