Final drive "o" ring no longer available ???

So I am changing my tires and want to replace the "O" rings on the final drive splines. I ordered them last night and this morning I got an email saying that part# 91357-MBO-000-ring is no longer available. Is there another "O" ring that will work or a cross reference #? Is it a common size perhaps available at an auto parts store? Thanks for the help.

The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

dont think its a common one found at auto parts stores but most likely a local bearing supply house should either have them or can order it for you (56.5 x 3.5 mm)
update your location with town and state u might even have your local stealer do a nationwise search, another dealer may have one in their stock,my local dealer has found parts for me several times and even supplied their phone # so i could order direct from them

O-Ring 56X60X2, Pivot Works P/N H-SE-099, Honda P/N 91357-MB0-000, USD2.49, shipping unknown, seller reputation unknown. Sellers description says it fits GL1200 and a bunch of other models. Good Luck |

there is a business in my little town called Allied Seals - I bet they could match it. Really nice guys up there. If you have no luck, you could send me the seal and I would try to get them to match it for you.

I have found that when I attempt to order a part using the part number from my own digital parts books that quite often the part numbers have been superseded by a later part number that makes my part number obsolete. When attempting to order a part make sure that the dealer has the latest numbers available so that when you place your order by part description you will stand a much better chance of getting a good part number that will make the item you want available to you. I was really baffled by this at first but now I understand a little better that recalls, updates and improvements by the manufacturer can render original part numbers obsolete so just make certain that you order using the most current part numbers.

Just found this place http://www.theoringstore.com/ I ordered a 56x3.5 mm for $1.04 and $5.00 shipping. I don't imagine the .5mm difference will be an issue.
Oh another thing, I want to repack the wheel bearings but my Haynes manual says it's hard to remove them without ruining them. True? Also how common is the spun race problem I have heard about?

Interestingly I just pulled everything apart this afternoon and they must have put on one of these 56x60x2 "O" rings cause when I laid both seals out on the bench I thought why is that one so skinny next to the other when they are both supposed to be 3.5mm thick?

A Honda dealership parts person can take the original part number dimensions, and cross reference that "discontinued" part to a new part number if it has been used on a different Honda machine.

i've found that cheapcycleparts.com keeps up with parts superseded and dc'd better than most other sites
since o-rings are somewhat strechable that part # 31358-MG9-003 (50 x 3.5mm) may be usuable and is available and since you already have to order one for the other side of flange

So I ordered one from the link I posted above that is 56x3.5mm which is only a 0.5mm stretch. Don't think the old girl will notice the difference.

Just a follow up and a heads up for anyone who might be replacing these o rings.
The Honda part # 91357-MBO-000 that fits between the final drive gear and the spider is 56.5 x 3.5 and is what Honda micro fiche identifies. This was too big for the spider to clear and seat properly into the drive gear splines. The proper size is 56.5 x 2.0mm as mentioned previously in this thread. I wondered why the one I pulled off was so much thinner than it's replacement. I find it odd that the Honda part would be listed wrong. That's what I get for being a stickler and wanting to change o rings for good measure. Now I will have to wait another 3-4 days for the right one. Looked high and low for the old one but must have tossed it already.
