Have you seen the inside of your gas tank?

In the continuing pursuit to solve the mystery of why this bike seems to have a fuel starvation problem, which used to occur once or twice a year, but now has started to happen more often, we borrowed a scope from our local mechanic. Amazing little tool.
For some time, I felt that there was something in the tank that was clogging the intake, so 2 or 3 years ago.. completely cleaned out the tank, complete with suctioning any possible debris, etc.. got nothing to speak of. Using the scope yesterday, we seen that the tank is clean, nice and shiny inside, and as you will see in the pictures, the intake screen is very clean. No debris or particles seen in the lower section. 1. intake screen ![]() 2. float ![]() 3. near back of petcock ![]() 4. tube on rear of petcock ![]() 5. guage and float arm ![]() 6. another petcock pic ![]()

How does one get to the pick up screen in the tank? How does one clean the screens on the fuel needle valves in the carbs?
