I do believe you can if it is the cover... different part No's for different years

If you can replace the gasket why can't you replace the clutch? I don't think there is room to get the bolts out and slide the cover off? The bolts may slide back enough to install a new gasket by cutting it and adding some sealer at that spot but how will you remove the old gasket? Or were you just gonna add it? I think if you can get the cover back at all I would try some 3-Bond 1194 gasket sealer.
Did he try just tightening it first?

That would make sense, I would just have to get under there and have a look. I've just heard you have to pull the motor to replace the clutch?

hi frank and Sir tricky!
have you been knighted since we last chatted tricky? i shall bow down and kiss your ring, comes to mind. many thanks for your replies. no need to change the clutch plates as a nos engine, carbs and starter has been sourced. for some reason my friend bill the mechanic advised me that the nos engine had a leak at the clutch cover. So it's possible to replace the gasket only. I'm new to wings and bill has been rebuilding them in the uk since 1984. his workshop is awesome! thanks again wingers! regards angel |
