Drive shaft problem

I've been having a drive shaft problem ever since I've bought my bike a couple of years ago. The first time, it turned out the PO had the wrong spring on the u-joint side of the drive shaft and it caused the drive shaft to come out of the u-joint. It started giving me problems again about a month ago and I thought that the new to me drive shaft might have some weak springs since they were used, so I ordered new springs and before they came in, it happened again, the drive shaft jumped out of the u-joint. This past week, I pulled the rear end and drive shaft and replaced the springs with the new ones and inspected the splines on the u-joint, drive shaft and rear end. I went for a ride today, and it only did it once, but I felt it jump out and back in again. Has anyone ever had this problem before, it has me puzzled.

Is the circlip installed?

The circlip on the front of the shaft is in place and I replaced the "stop clip" on the back of the drive shaft also even though the manual says that it can be left out.

Did you happen to check the swingarm bearings, just in case they are knocking things out of alignment? If they are loose or someone has installed them offset there is a possibility that something like this may happen. I would also remove the rear shocks and move the swingarm to its full travel in each direction while rotating the rear wheel to be certain that everything is correct. At the extreme there could be something not right inside the engine at the output shaft area which may be allowing the output shaft to move forward and disconnect from the driveshaft. Finally, maybe the driveshaft or u-joint is not the right one for your bike? I've seen stranger things happen. Let us know what you find. Good luck.

I didn't check the swingarm bearings, the drive shaft is the correct one because I have replaced it already, the u-joint I'm not 100% on with some of the "modifications" the PO has made but I don't think it's been changed. I thought that if I had swing arm bearing problems that I would have handling problems with the bike, which I don't have, it rides great. I plan on pulling everything apart again and check the swing arm movement and see if there is any thing loose there, that is the only thing that would make sense.

Thanks so much, I actually have a pretty weird work schedule but I'm off work tomorrow and this weekend, and Gadsden would make a nice ride. If you would prefer, I could drive to you. I can ride the bike, It's just I wouldn't trust it on a long trip because of this problem.

Well finally had time to tear into the rear end again and recheck everything and I found the problem. It was a worn pinion joint, where the drive shaft mates to the differential, it didn't look to bad till I cleaned off the old grease and saw what a good one was supposed to look like. Next step is to find a drive shaft in better condition. The one I have is worn but not badly, but I'd still like to replace it because the pinion joint I found looks brand new and I don't want to mess it up with a worn drive shaft. Thanks to Poorboy for taking the time to convince me to look at all that again.
