home made fender extender! free $0.00 :-)
hi wingers

I've tried to buy a fender extender
for my 1200. in the uk they're hard to
find. a shop in London advised
a 6 week wait from the States!
i needed it asap.

i tried fleabay US and it work
out with shipping £50 Brit pounds,
ouch i thought.

i thought, i would make one.
choices were aluminum and
i thought if anything happened.
the metal would damage the plastic.
then i contemplated fibreglass.
it sounded ok, however to
make it look factory, would
take too long, to layer it, prime
and paint it etc.

a rubber mat maybe, i thought
practical, but basic.

finally i remembered that I'd to
replace the rear hugger, inner fender.
the sides were broken by the PO.

using the inner fender and a cardboard
template, i designed and made
the attached fender extender!

i coated it in rubber to help
flexibility and was pleased with
the end result.
it didn't cost me a dime, only time!
a poet and i didn't know it!

hi frank & bs

i really enjoyed making the
fender extender. recycle is the
way forward. I've never seen another one.

bs you mentioned about polishing the
valve covers? the original
photo was how i bought the wing.
I've since parted all the bike, except the
engine and restored, replaced or
binned anything beyond repair.

it's has new s/s mufflers, hagon
fork progressive springs (great fun doing the
caps). latest parts were hagon rear s/s shrouded
progressives! puncture safe in both
tyres! new main harness and all plastics
repaired, painted, cleared!

I've taken staged photos.
looks good now.

the fairing wiring has all been
traced to the schematic.
as tidy now as factory.

a big day tomorrow, the 04th July
and my main fairing gets reinstalled
and plugs into the new harness?
q) will it all light up? i feel very
confident, tracing all the components
takes time and good labels!

fail to prepare and prepare to

I'm getting really excited about plugging
it all together. the po's lost 7 wires
hence, the replacement newer harness.
first time I've owned a wing.

every single wire has a factory use.
anything 'added on' binned!

I'll let you know about the first
switch on for years!

guess who found a broken
ignition trigger wire!
the po's missed the breakage

fingers crossed! do
you feel confident, 99.9% yes!
