Learn from my mistakes-Never overlook your plug wires

As you have seen in my past posts i was having a problem with my 84 Aspencade-wouldn't idle--lousy throttle response. Man i thought it was everything-timing-carbs-pulse generator-coils everything but the right thing--plug wires. Bought a nice set of high performance 7mm solid core and got them installed--bike has never ran like it does now-just touch the start button and it fires up--lightening fast throttle response. As they say live and learn and thats just what i did.

Dirt in a sparkplug drain hole got me once on my previous 83 GL1100 I water sat where it should have drained which caused the sparkplug cap to arc. simple thing but it caused a miss that made the engine run terrible. Poked it with a coathanger the blew it out with air,end of problem. Good mechanics will always tell you check the simple things first and its true. Three mechanic in our family a collage mechanics instructor, a Peterbuilt Diesel Mechanic, and a Marine and small engines mechanic, they all say check simple things first when troubleshooting, unless its an obvious problem. |

Wyatt, what brand of wires did you buy and from where?
