They should work just fine. You can go to a parts fiche and compare the part numbers too but for the most part the motors are the same

Pattern coils??? Do you mean something like after market coils? They will put out a hotter more defined spark but are usually a bit more in price.

my project gk1200 bike has had 14 po's
boy's they totally ignored looking
after him!
it needs the tlc of mechanics daughter
(me) to give him new life away from
the rust & cobwebs!

looking forward to starting up
very soon, just waiting on the ec
harness!

q) is it recommended to upgrade
the spark plugs to iridium ones
for the new ec harness?
someone advised me from a goldwing
group.

the goldwing is being restored for
my relative Norman, i bought
the bike for his 70th birthday.
'the power of dreams, ride a honda!'
it brought a big smile to his face!

thank you so much for helping me
riders and wrenchers!

I just put a set of these on my 1200: http://accel-motorcycle.com/motorcylce-a...ctive.html They work great. Very fast cold starts now. I need to richen the carb jets a bit before I realize the full performance gain.

hi frank

thanks for your reply!

i saw a thread about these
accel coils where the rider/wrencher
fried his cdi.
did he install them incorrectly?

are they compatible with our bikes?

thanks again!

GL1200's do not have CDI ignition systems, they are simply electronically triggered which replaces the old contact point type systems. I have never seen a GL1200 with CDI. If in fact he did have CDI ignition then perhaps he used the wrong Accel coils on his bike. Accel makes a coil set for CDI (part number140404) but they are not the same as part number 140403 like I used on my 1200. Regarding installation, you really can't mess up when installing these coils unless you short any electrical components to ground, there is no polarity on the coil electrical connections so you can't even mess up on that. About the only way you could damage these coils after installing them is to starve the coils of cooling which could cause them to overheat, but, that would be extreme because these coils are much more robust than the stock Honda coils.
