Replacing HT leads

I had (have?) a similar issue on my 84 GL1200i; the engine would miss after washing or in heavy rain. I had checked the head drain holes, they were clear. I replaced the stock copper wires & resistor caps with 7mm automotive resistance wiring. Once trimmed to length, the wires had about the same total resistance; about 5000 to 7000 ohms. I believe the tighter boot fit to the spark plug will help in wet situations. Now the engine doesn't miss after washing, but I haven't been through a heavy rainstorm yet this year. I hope this solved that part of the problem too.
