Remove the stator after Poorboy conversion
|
|
|||
I took a gander at the parts diagram for the charging system here:
http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/model_yea...ter-clutch Just so I am sure - there is no benefit to removing any internal parts - all stock parts should remain in the engine after the alternator conversion, correct? |

if you were to go through the trouble of removing the engine to take out the stator you might just as well have replaced it.

Just disconnect the stock stator.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

Disconnect the plug that goes to the regulator.
You will find it on the frame left side in front of the regulator

What does Poorboy include with his conversions? It's pretty easy to get your own pulley and bracket not sure if his conversions include anything more?

Bracket, pulley, lower bushings & nuts, spacers, maybe some other things.
I made my bracket and spacers etc but it does take machinery to make them, if your handy and have the stuff and ability then have a go, it just take numerous fittings to get it right, getting the kit takes care of that.

belt length will depend on size of crank pulley and the alternator,once you have crank pulley installed and alt mounted,take a string and loop it around the pulleys and measure,that measurement should get you close,most installs are usually in the range of 28" to 31" normally
