It's time for cool weather riding
Outside-the-office work this week has kept me on four wheels till yesterday. Our Wing was standing in the garage with that neglected look on it's fairing so I said "fine.." Just before sunrise the morning was overcast and +2C with a SE wind at 20, and RH 85% that turned to light rain time I got to town. It "warmed up" to +1C later in the morning, then made it to +3C by late pm home time. If the distance was much more than the 1/2 hour at hwy speed a guy would want some heat on the hands with that humidity. The cool weather gloves were at their limit. Heated grips are on the to-do list... meanwhile the cylinder heads have to do ...
Modern tour bike clothing is amazing how it will keep you comfy in a wide range of conditions.
I got a chance to test my new Alpinestars balaclava - it is an excellent piece of kit in those conditions. It has a nice thin head cover, a fuzzy warm neck warmer, and a waterproof outer cape that goes over your coat collar and sheds water other places that down the back of the neck.
In cool, dry weather I take it "cool" when cornering, thinking about cold tires, humidity, cold pavement, dried grit from mud tracked out of construction sites, side roads etc. It was +3 and dry on the way home so I put a hand on the Michelins when I got home and the silly things warm up even at +3. Not as much as normal operating temps in summer, but they were warm to the touch...

Ya, it's pretty nippy here today too. Was 36ºF when I got up. I'm heading out to ride in a bit when it warms up some! We are on our way to the 80's today so that will be nice. I would never make it up there!! ha

You're a brave man, Laurie. We're sitting at -1 C this morning with the high forecast at plus 2! If things don't improve in the next week, I'm thinking its time to put Wanda away for the winter. Sure didn't get many klicks in this year.

We'll have to make sure the Creston meet-n-greet takes place in 2013. Response so far has been pretty good.

Momentary delay. 2 inches fresh wet snow on the ground. Garage projects underway today, after a nap.

Ah the lovely days of the Early Aboriginal Post Equinox! I miss them already... we can get some warm days yet... but we are getting too far from the sun...

Unlike Ontario, which is obviously basking in sunshine, we have snow and minus 6 this morning. High is supposed to reach zero or thereabouts with no improvement expected for the rest of the week. Sadly, time for Wanda to enter storage mode.

The next 6 months or so can be spent looking for GL1200 bits and studying the maps!

Yes sir.. it is nice here in Southern Ontario.. went riding yesterday, no need for heated liner.. in fact had to open jacket just a bit.. lovely weather.
Today just as nice.. cut the grass at the cemetery, and at home.. hopefully for the last time.
Forcast looks like rain for the rest of week.

today: high 80 low 69ºF, 83 tomorrow, 86 on Wednesday, it's brutal this year! We have no misgivings though, Halloween ALWAYS turns off cold and rainy, so we know it's coming but I'm gonna gloat while I can!

Hey Mates, It's been about -4C to 0C here in the mornings and been riding to work, about 64 kilometers.
Have been trying my new electric vest and gloves I got from EXO2theheatinside.com.
This heated gear works very well. So I have the liner out of my TourMaster jacket and wear the vest over a shirt.

I wait until the state truck start shaking salt to pull the bike off the road. Don't like salt on the bike, hard on parts.
Run a 84 GL1200A.

Sunday, the 11th was absolutely the nicest here.. rode all afternoon, jacket open, no gear plugged in.. had to be near high 60's.. hopefully a few more days like that.

Put your location in your profile so we know where "here is" got to be north of the border if your talking in Celsius
