Rear wheel wear

I recently purchased an 87 Aspencade and it had 40,000 miles. I have put about 2000 on it and it appears that the rear wheel wears heavy to the drivers left side. No noticeable handling issues... that I can feel. Any suggestions? Bearings, alignment etc...

I may get some grief from this but....
Lot's of bikes wear on the left side of the tire...especially if you run normally straight roads. Most roads are crowned for water run off so your tires will wear alittle more on the left side. My Wing wears pretty equal on both sides with Dunlap II's on front and a Michelin Commander on back. My sons VTX 1300 wears his front tire left of center. Mechanic says this is normal for the roads he runs. Take it for what it's worth..... Jack

When the wheels are off for tires, have a real good look at those wheel bearings! If in doubt, throw them out!

Ditto on the bearings. 84 and 85 are known for the inner hub bearing to get loose in the housing. My LTD succumbed to it today. Still ridable but will be looking for the 5mm larger outside dia bearing that the manual calls for to fix it when it happens.
