Any tips on rear tire removal?

Today I will be changing the rear tires out on both my wing and my wife's virago. I have removed her rear wheel before and its pretty straight forward. I have not removed mine yet. I know how to get to the wheel and all, so my question is, are there any tips or tricks that I should know ahead of time? I will be greasing up the splines with the molly grease. I am anticipating the removal off the wing will be basically the same off the virago.....

I also anticipate the tough part being the tire swap itself.....hopefully :YMPRAY: :YMPRAY: :YMPRAY:

I took pics of the order of the washers and spacers on the rear axel to make sure I put them back on correctly. I also had to deflate the tire to get it out. Other than that it is straight forward. The manual tells you step by step.

I find removing the wheel not to be a big problem, deflating the tire (E3) both front and rear prior to removal and installation.

I do not attempt to remove the tire from the rim, I do not have the necessary equipment to do the job correctly. That's done by the shop that supplies the tire.

Well, first go at swapping tires out was definitely a learning experience. I think its good, seems to be holding air, will check in the morning.

Edit: My only concern is that I did not hear the distinct pop when the bead sets. The "line" on the sidewall just above the rim seems to be even. I sprayed the rime/tire area with soapy water to check for leaks and all seemed good. I had inflated and deflated it multiple times and when deflating it I would see some air bubble out but not when inflated. I have read that sometimes it doesn't always pop if using a small compressor because it slowly sets the bead. I will be checking it in a bit and will update.

Day 2 Update of Pan vs the Tires!!!!

Went outside and my tire held pressure overnight. Rode and got gas, around the block, and all seems good. After the ride the tire still held same pressure.

Decided to tackle my wife's tire.....2 hours start to finish, bead had seat not problems....better than my 8 hours #-O #-O #-O

Gong to take em for a gingerly ride in a bit to break them in.......hopefully I make it back for a follow up!!!!

Ride report: Tire has not lost air and rides real nice!!!! So I guess it doesn't need to "pop" to seat the bead.

For the record, the tire is the Pirelli Route 66. Rides real smooth. So far I like it, but then again my Elite II I was riding on was bald...

Also, I have popped the wheel weights off and put in approximately 3 ounces (maybe a bit more) of balancing beads. Mike you are correct - a tubeless tire (of any type) does not need to "pop" to seat to the rim. When I received tire mounting training many moons ago lubricating the wheel and bead like you did and having the bead ease into place is the correct way and much easier on the tire.

Thanks for the reassurance. Whenever trying to find info on seating the bead, I was getting conflicting info on whether it needs a "pop" to seat or not. Seems that it does not as long as the raised "ring" is all equal distant from the rim. My wife's tire was much easier to mount. I supposed that was from being a much softer rubber (Shinko) than mine (Pirelli).
