Wheel Difference
Ok I just recieved a almost new tire (rear) from some one. I don't know if it will fit my wing or not. I don't know what it came off of. My wing tire Number is MV85 B15 MC 77H, The tire I was given is MV90 B15 74H.... Would I be able to use it on my goldwing or not? WHat do all the numbers stand for. Thanks

MT90HB-16 FRONT

MTV 85 -15 REAR

both bias ply tires

I can't tell you if the 90 will work on the back or not, my 85 just clears the frame - that is a Dunlop E3

Check your numbers again.

The MU90 is a 16" rear tire for the 1100, the MV85 is a 15" rear tire for the 1200.

The MM MR and MT 90's are all front tires, or the rear on the 1000.

Be sure to also check the date code stamped into the raised oblong box on the side wall, it should read something like '4308' which would indicate a manufacture date of the 43 week of 2008.

He states in his post that the tier is a MV09 B15 You say that a MU90 is a 16 but he says his is a MV no mu. I'm sorry I don't know the difference but if it is anything @ all like a car tire the 90 would be a taller profile. Eg 70,60,50sieries etc Angela

try this address for "HOW TO READ MOTORCYCLE TIRES" -101 <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/Tire-And-Wheel-Information/49/Street-Bike">http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/Tire- ... treet-Bike</a><!-- m -->

also check the 'born date' of the tire. It should be located in an indented oblong and should consist of 4 numbers. The first two numbers are the weeks of the year and the last two numbers are the last two digits of the year. If you see an oblong with only three numbers, the tire was made prior to te year 2000 and you should not mount the tires to the rim. Example: 2810 - this would indicate the 28th week of the year 2010. Or, 289 would indicate the 28th week in the year 1999.
